01. Use of Cookies

The web elmodernehotel.com uses “Cookies”, and other similar methods (hereafter, Cookies). Cookies are files that a web server sends to a browser to register user activity on a particular web site (hereafter, the Services). The main purpose of the Cookies is to give a user faster access to the Services requested. Cookies also make the Services more personal, offering each user information of interest to them or which may be of interest to them, based on their use of the Services.

Cookies are used to make browsing as easy and personal as possible. Cookies associate with a User and their device anonymously and do not provide references that can enable any personal details of the user to be deduced. The user may configure their browser to report and reject the installation of the Cookies sent, and this will not prevent the user from accessing the Content. We should advise you, however, that in this case the quality of the experience of the website may suffer as a result.

02. Type, purpose and how cookies work

Cookies can be classed as session or permanent cookies depending on the length of time they are used for. The former expire when the user closes the browser. The latter expire when they have served their purpose or when they are erased manually.

Depending on their purpose, Cookies can also be classified as follows:

PERFORMANCE COOKIES: This type of Cookie stores preferences for the tools that form part of the Services, so that they do not need to be configured every time a user visits. For example, this type includes: Volume settings for video and sound players. Video streaming speed that is compatible with the browser. Objects stored in the “shopping basket” in E-commerce Services such as stores.

GEOLOCATION COOKIES: These Cookies are used to read the country you are in when you request a Service. This Cookie is totally anonymous and is only used to help guide the content to your location.

REGISTRATION COOKIES: Registration Cookies are created when users register or open a session thereafter, and are used to identify them to the Services for the following purposes: Maintain user identity so that the device or browser will continue to identify the user after they have been closed and reopened later or another day, making browsing smoother and without repeating the identification. This function can be terminated if the user presses “close session” so that the Cookie is eliminated and the user will have to identify him or herself again the next time they open a session. Check whether the user is authorised to access certain Services. Some Services can also connect with social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. When users register in a Service with the credentials of a social network, they authorise that social network to store a persistent cookie that retains their identity and guarantees access to the Services until it expires. Users can erase this Cookie and revoke access to the Services through social networks by updating their preferences in the social network in question.

ANALYTICAL COOKIES: Every time users visit a Service, a tool belonging to an external provider (Prestashop, etc.) generates an analytical cookie in the users’ device. This Cooky is only generated in the visit and will serve in the next visits to the Services to identify the visitor anonymously. The main objectives pursued are: Allow anonymous identification by users browsing through their “Cookie” (identifying browsers and devices, not persons) and thereby keeping a count of the number of visitors and the time of their stay. Identify anonymously which content is the most visited and therefore the most attractive to the visitors. Know whether the user is a new or a repeat visitor. Important: Unless the user decides to register in a Service, the “Cookie” will never be associated with any personal data that could identify this user. These Cookies are only used for statistical purposes that help to optimise user experience on the site.

03. How to disable Cookies in the most popular browsers

Browsers can normally be set to refuse or reject Cookies from a particular Service.
All modern Browsers allow users to change the configuration for Cookies. These settings are normally found in the ‘options’ or ‘preferences’ of the browser menu. You can configure your browser or email manager or install free components to prevent Web Bugs from downloading when you open a mail.
